This is my third attempt at a 28mm sculpt. I was going for a young look for this chap (kind of a young Arnie or Wolfgar from the early R.A.Salvadore books). comments and criticism, hints and tips would be appreciated.
I've not cooked him yet, so can still make as many changes as needed.
Proportions At the moment the barbarian's head seems rather large compared to the rest of the body, which makes him look at bit cartoony. The legs also seem to be on the short side. Take a look here for more info on human proportions.
Face seems too childlike compared to the body I know you wanted to sculpt a young barbarian, but now it kind of looks as if we have a child's head on top of a grown man's body. The face seems to have too much babyfat/child fat to fit the body of somebody who looks as if he goes to the gym every day and maybe also takes some steroids to look that way.
Quality of the photo What did you use to take the photo with? Try to play a bit with the macro settings of your camera. It's a bit hard to make out what's going on on the picture.
Beyond all that the figure looks awesome, from what I can see on the photo the muscles look really detailed.
Bits Blitz - the place to be for all your bits needs!
I thought there was something wrong with the head but couldn't put my finger on what it was. I did realise that the legs looked a bit short when I looked at it again, so I will try to re-work these (I'll tease a bit more wire out out of the cork and redo the feet)
He does look a little cheruby doesn't he. I'll see if I can give him a bit more of a rugged appearance.
I must apologise about the quality of the photo. I lost my digital camara earlier in the year (not that it was particularly good), so this was taken on a crappy old nokia phone camara - I'm hoping Santa will bring me a new one ths year (I've mostly been good!!)
I'll do some re-work on it to address these issues and see what I come up with, thanks for the pointers
This models looking a lot better after the adjustments, he looks like a man now, not a child with a mans body lol. I'm not sure if it's just the angle, but the right pec looks bigger than the left, mostly towards the top of the pec, could be worth taking a bit of volume off to even them out.
"We have our miniatures released, and that makes us pro sculptors in real life. AND YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!"? Thanks - Kyte
