A lasgun measures 2.5cms, so it's not all that massive... But if a smaller version was needed, it wouldn't be outwith my ability. This one only took about a couple of hours, so if it's not suitable, it's no big loss.
Oh! My worries are almost gone now! My only worry, and this is not your fault, but a possible flaw in the design: Will a model be able to carry that gun? Would it fit in the arms of a Cadian model without looking off?
If that's not a problem I suggest finishing that gun, maybe create a variant of it (not really needed though) and send it off to Ed. He could then cast them in sets of 5 or something and offer them as a sprue. They'd make great alternatives not only for GW stuff, but possibly also for Icesword's infantry kits. That and it would be the subtle beginning of integrated the TFM stuff into the Sciror universe...
EDIT: I see that the backpart of the gun is slightly too big, I guess that's more a design problem rather than having something to do with your abilities. I suggest shorten it a tiny bit so that it will fit in the hands of a standard 28-30mm soldier.
It may be a little to bit, or it may be the handle and trigger is quite large compared to the rest of the gun - but that may be a natural side effect of striking it down and making it fit 28mm scale (heroic scale).
In regards to malika's concerns - a little trimming could be a good idea if it will improve compatibility. Looking at the pictures it seems like a small modification, though it could be the miniature itself could be trimmed up a little too.
This gun may work as an alternative to the Trencher's gun, not sure it would match the Great Coats?
