Hmm, I've decided to drop the cruisers as Legion models. I've got a feeling that the design I've made is still too much set around the concept of either Age of Sail or WWII naval warfare, not doing true justice to some of the interesting concepts we've been developing here. I think I'll tweak the designs (remove the Distortion Engine and add a bridge to them) for another project.
However, I still want to make Sciror/SITA ships, but something closer to Philip's concept. Might wait with it until he finished a concept for a design of the Ecorium floor plan we've been working on, to get the aesthetic feel right, or try to come up with something else. I've got a feeling I can create a more interesting design that fits more with the way naval warfare works in Sciror. Maybe a return to something I had in mind for my version of the battleship.
But ok, don't expect this too soon, hopefully in the coming weeks/months. Would love to finish my robotic Hounds of Tindalos (thank you for putting that name in my head Philip S) first...
Bits Blitz - the place to be for all your bits needs!
The design is not that clear in the picture so I roughed up a 3D model to show the idea;
As you can see it's quiet 'aggressive' in design, and when you take wide angle low level shots it look impressive and even more spiky. The front is inspired by a German medieval warhammer design.
The design is slightly different from the picture, the edge of the main hull (the corners of the square section when looking from the front) have be cut and grooved (if that makes any sense?). I may change it back...
I realised that the front is a little hard to discern the structure. The inside of the 4 frontal spikes meet at a single point (later I'll add the prow disruptor fields). I'll have to post some more pics when I get back.
I noticed the topic kinda deviated into a discussion about space ships rather than (life inside) the Supremacy itself. So let me try to drag the thread back on topic!
It's a shame you guys all live so far away, we should do movie night!
Here some suggestions:
Den Brysomme Mannen (The Bothersome Man):IMDB page
Yes, it's a Norwegian film, so better get used to reading subtitles if you don't speak the language! The film is basically about a man who find himself in what seems to be the perfect world, but is completely soulless. So he ends up trying to escape. It's not that much a scifi film, but it does (at least to me) perfectly describe the psychological/emotional/spiritual state of one living inside a Supremacy era Ecorium.
Another one of those European indie films with subtitles, this time Greek. In short the film is about a couple who keep their children inside their premises, totally ignorant about the outside world, well into their adulthood. The link between the parents and the machines isn't that far fetched...
