This was a little something I was pondering on. Your original plan was to include four volumes, each volume sort of an advancement in the timeline. In the 4th volume Wastelander would also move into space right?
But what would the aesthetic be? Would it still have a post apocalyptic/scratchbuilt look, or will stuff become more and more sophisticated looking?
Bits Blitz - the place to be for all your bits needs!
Yeah, even later on a lot of the tech will have a recycled/rough and ready style. much is cobbled together from surviving components and jury rigged. even in later volumes* education amongst the wastelanders isn't good. even simple things like gunpowder is considered alchemy by many. it's small groups discovering ancient encyclopedias and data stores or stumbling across long forgotten machines that spur the re-development of technological understanding.
a lot of the pre event tech was advanced but built to be very robust, practical and long lasting. it was produced when need using nanoprinting (like 3d printing but at a nano scale, capable of using a fusion core and atomic manipulation to produce any material, including complex metamaterials)
the holy grail of the game is to find an intact nanoprint hub, a vast construct, capable of reproducing nearly anything, including new nanoprint nodes and hubs (the basis of the pre-event economic infrastructure) and stroing the instructions for thousands of items ranging from mundane items like spoons to atvanced tech like plasma field generators and hologram emitters.
